Life’s little ironies

I was thinking about life’s little ironies the other day and having a moment of reflection.

Recently the walk to school in the morning has not been especially enjoyable. The merry go round of rain, snow and ice hasn’t helped much, plus the fact that my eldest has recently begun to ‘hate’ school and just getting to the classroom door without any upset has been a challenge.

But one morning last week, I realised that the whole morning walk had been filled with laughter and giggling from my eldest. This was due mainly to the appearance of snow and the constant amusement brought about by throwing snowballs at mummy.

This would have been a walk to enjoy, however my youngest had a cold and he who is usually the happy cheery one, was grizzly and generally in a bad mood (which is completely understandable, when you’re out in the freezing cold with a runny nose.) So while my eldest laughed, my youngest cried. Plus, I had to push a pushchair through the snow as youngest refused to walk after falling over head first twice, which I totally understand.

So, what you get with one hand is taken away by the other. Ah well…….
