Me time

Well, as every parent knows it’s very hard to spend time on oneself without feeling guilty. I started this blog without really knowing what I wanted to do with it and over time it has started to lead me down a path I’m really very happy with. I enjoy writing and it’s the one time when I don’t feel guilty about just being me, it’s ‘my time’. I have a very special moment each weekend, which I call my ‘golden hour’ (technically, it’s about an hour and 20 minutes, but let’s not argue over mere technicalities.) It’s my time to sit uninterrupted by cries of ‘mummy’ or screams of frustration ( is it just boys who do this, or just my boy?) Anyway, there’s no washing up to be done, no cleaning, ironing or tidying to do, because I’m not at home! I’m out at our local arts centre ALL ON MY OWN, while my eldest has a drama session. It’s bliss.

Today though it’s surprisingly busy with people obviously starting out on their new year health resolutions, the cafe has been moved (how dare they) and there’s no hot chocolate, plus I can’t think of what to write! My sense of frustration is growing, but I will not let my golden hour pass me by in a mist of quibbles.

    • I know, they chose the wrong time of year to refurbish the cafe! It may only be an hour or so, but it’s lovely to have time to think and just ‘be’. Thank you for stopping by.
