Books good enough to eat!

I made a great discovery the other day, courtesy of Playing by the Book . Loving books as I do and literally immersing myself in each and every one so that I can almost taste the chocolate or smell the wine or feel the mud between my toes, I am always looking to share the love with other like minded souls. What I am discovering along the way fills me with joy and hope. This latest discovery fills me with joy, hope and laughter.

April 1st isn’t just a celebration of fools, since 2000 it’s also The International Edible Book Day. An opportunity for chefs and bibliophiles to join together and create an edible book!

Created by by Judith A. Hoffberg and Béatrice Coron, it’s a fabulous edible banquet offering people from around the world the chance to create their own literary sensation with a twist of lemon and a hint of ginger maybe? Open to all, it is shared globally via the website www.books2eat.com.

We have our half term holiday coming up soon, so I’m going to get thinking about what we could do for it. I’ll keep you posted!

There are a few ‘rules’ to follow in order to be considered, so if you are interested in getting involved do check out the website, but having looked at them, they’re nothing too onerous.

Do feel free to share your books if you decide to give it a go, it would be great to link up and see them!

  1. What an awesome idea, I have put it in the diary, maybe I will make a little edible book myself, preferably made with sticky date and chocolate cake with a dash caramel cardamom syrup, lol, thanks so much for linking into the hop again. Cheers Julie Grasso

  2. This sounds like so much fun. Some of my books are about food, but none are actually edible. Hmmmm….I’ll have to give this some thought. :) Thanks for sharing and nice to meet you, too. : )

    • Any idea that gets people being creative and thinking slightly differently is always good in my view. I’m hoping to do a future feature about food themed books and mention your culinary related e-books-will keep you posted. Great to meet you too, you have a lovely passion for words.
