Well, things are moving on quite quickly for me in terms of having my book published. I’m hoping to see a proof copy within the next couple of weeks! This is because I have been invited into a local primary school to read my story to some children!!
It’s all a part of World Book Day . I’ve blogged about my love for one of the featured books here on The Illustration Machine blog (they’re my publisher’s-that is pretty cool to write, I have to say!!). Anyway, feel free to check out my review of Giraffe’s Can’t Dance as it’s lovely picture book to share.
Anyway, back to my reading date! I will be reading my story to a class of 30 children-it’s been a while since I’ve stood in front of such a large number of little people, but it will be fun. I’m very nervous about reading my story aloud for the first time. My mum has read it and given it the thumbs up which is a brilliant start (she’s a retired primary school teacher) so I’m feeling a little more confident. However, it’s going to be interesting seeing how a class full of children react when there’s no reason for them to hide their thoughts and feelings (unlike family?!)
I’m in the process of creating a suggestion guide for parents, carers and teachers and childcare professionals to sit alongside the book to help reader’s get more out of it. I hope this will add some ‘value’ to the whole reading experience. It’s nothing too complicated but hopefully ideas that are simple to do and easy to create.
That’s exciting! I think it’s a huge achievement to have a book published. Well done!
Thank you.
That’s brilliant to get your book published. Be prepared to work on the promotional side of things after though. Not as much fun as writing in my view!
Can imagine, and not something that comes very naturally to me either!
Visiting from KidLit.
Well done on getting published!
